LIVING THROUGH THE VALLEY

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil;
For You are with me;
Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.
- Ps 23:4,  NKJV

Life can hit us with crisis moments; difficult times where it might seem that no one cares and that there is no way out.  Illness, death of a  loved  one, loss of a job.  We all go through times where we need help.  As Christians, we are called to love and care for each other because Christ gave His all for us.

As a body of Christ-followers, the people of Pitman UMC strive to head God's call for us to be the Body in the world.  All disciples serve as God's hands and feet to bring His love,  hope, and healing into the world.  When a crisis hits, we want to be there for you.  Let us know. We offer several formal "care giving ministries" and support many others.   Contact us.  Our pastors can offer counseling or direct you to the people who can help you get  through the rough times.

Prayer
We firmly believe that God DOES answer prayers!  We see it all the time!  Our church has a web of prayer warriors who are ready to pray for anyone who needs help.  You don't have to supply any details...  God knows you and knows your situation, but He yearns to hear from His children praying on your behalf.

Stephens Ministries
Sometimes we feel that we're on our own.  We just need someone who will listen to us and be a source of encouragement and support.   In our church we have developed a core of people who are trained to do just that.  They are called Stephens Ministers, and they are ready to listen and help you through your difficult times.

Interfaith Hospitality (Family Promise)
If you've lost your home and your family suddenly finds itself without shelter, the churches in our area are ready to help.  Interfaith Hospitality is a ministry which gives temporary housing in church buildings and gives you the space and time to begin to pull your life back together again.

Pitman Food Pantry
The Pitman Pantry, located in rear of the First Pitman Baptist Church (30 N. Broadway), is an ecumenical ministry of five local churches which provides food to families in times of need. Each year, due to economic changes and rising fuel costs, more families come to the Pantry for food. In 2011, food will be provided to an average of 900 people/300 families per month.
The Pitman Pantry is open Tuesday 6:00 - 7:00 PM, Wednesday 4:00 - 5:00 PM, Thursday 12:00 - 1:00 PM.
