Couples Retreat

The couples retreat is once again being held at Sandy Cove, MD the weekend of Feb 13 - 15.  The theme of the weekend is "The 4 Pillars of Marriages - Priority, Possession, Pursuit, and Purity" and will be presented by House on the Rock Ministries.    Music will be provided by Mark Cable.

A registration form must be filled out and submitted along with your deposit as soon as possible.  IF you have already submitted your deposit to the church office please see/contact Judy or Jeff Stewart immediately for a registration form.

Join Us For Worship This Sunday...

•   8:30 AM    "Tabernacle"  Worship Service-  Sanctuary
                   This first service has a Contemporary feel
                   while including some traditional hymns.

•   9:45 AM    Sunday School for all ages

• 11:00 AM    Traditional Worship- Sanctuary
                    The choirs participate in this service.
                  Children's Church for kids thru 5th grade

Pre-prayer your hearts and please join with us for Sunday Worship and Sunday School (all ages). 

Nursery is available both services.

Pitman Pantry Needs

"For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink."  (Matt 25:34, NIV)

Due to the difficult economic situation, the Pitman Pantry is currently in desperate need of any non-perishable food item..   More and more people are depending on the pantry and are needing our help.  Please place your items in the shopping cart which is located in the hallway to the fellowship hall.
 

Another thought: If you attend the Tuesday evening dinners at the church, consider bringing some items to donate then; let's not let others go hungry while we enjoy our Tuesday dinners.

Cereal Killers! Just a reminder that January 11th is Cereal Sunday! Help us kill hunger in our community by donating any type of cereal for the Pitman Food Pantry. For more information, contact Staci Scheetz. All cereals welcome!

Nursery School Questionnaire

The Nursery School Task Force would like the parents of prospective students for either daycare, pre-school or both to fill out a questionnaire. We are looking at opening in September 2009 and need the questionnaires filled out as soon as possible. If you are interested in considering a daycare/pre-school experience for your child at PUMC, please fill out the questionnaire. If you have any friends that may be interested in daycare/pre-school with a Christian-based program, please have them fill out the forms and bring them into the office, or mail them in to Nancy Walters.  Questionnaires are also available in the narthex.

Schedules Needed

We are excited about many opportunities for outreach and Christian growth and want to best utilize our facility. Now is the time to identify the groups, studies, and committees that will meet and their facility needs (day, time, & room). If your group will meet in the church, please complete the Building Use Form. The Building Use Form is also available in the church office and in the mailboxes. Please complete and leave it in the office for or email it to Nancy Walters.

Getting Married?

If you are considering having your wedding ceremony here at Pitman UMC, this booklet will provide you with general information for wedding planning, expectations from the pastors, and fees. Call the church office to check available dates and then submit your application and deposit.

Virtual Bookstore

Visit our Virtual Bookstore to purchase books used in bible studies, for gifts, or just plain reading. Cokesbury will donate a percentage of the sales proceeds to the church. Church members should create their own online account when purchasing items. 

Spring Alive 2009

Thinning your bulbs? Put extra crocus, daffodil or tulip bulbs in the designated boxes in the Narthex. Thank you for helping make Spring 2009 alive with color at PUMC.

The congregation of our church is actively reaching out in service to our local community.  There are many opportunities here in Gloucester County and around the world. Jump on board! Some areas of involvement:

• Scrappy Quilters (Meets 2nd Sat of month. Makes quilts for charity).

• Ranch Hope

• Interfaith Hospitality Network

• Pitman Food Pantry (odd Tuesday Nights)

• Pitman Manor (Auxiliary, Special Help days, Birthday Parties, Van driver)

• Habitat for Humanity (Building, construction)

• Not Yet Ready for Prime Time Singers
  (Nursing home, hospital and home visits for those ill or aging)

• Kids on a Mission for God (training children for a life of mission)

• Youth Mission and Service Projects

On-Line Sunday School

PUMC has gone high tech with Sunday School for kids in grades K - 6.  Check out this site for a fun interactive Christian educational tool.  There is a special area for Sunday School Teachers as well.

Still Getting Used to Our New Building...

Five years ago, a fire destroyed our historic church building in the center of Pitman. During our years of transition after the fire, we met in a school, a theater, and a converted hardware store. But our period of wandering ended in July 2007 when we moved into our new building .

Our church is now located at the corner of Lambs Road and Broadway in Pitman (758 N. Broadway). The building features a 620 seat sanctuary, a fellowship hall with a stage and full kitchen, and a two story education / administration wing. We also have on site parking and full accessibility (ground floor entry to the sanctuary with an elevator to the upper floor of the educational wing).
