Missionary News

World Communion Sunday is October 2nd.  On that day we will join thousands of other congregations receiving the sacraments of the Lord's Supper. As we reflect on global missions and ministries, it seems appropriate that we especially remember those that we support with our prayers and benevolent giving. We are including their E addresses so that you can read of their work and experiences, and offer them encouragement and support.

SCOTT and MEG RAMBO     UGANDA     In Uganda just four months, Scott and Meg are still adjusting to their new life in mission. Meg is hosting a team from Asbury University, who are working with Ugandan orphans. Scott is working with Sudanese pastors in Arua, and continues to build relationships with pastors at the Africa Gospel Church. They are both still working at learning Swahili. Their little sons, Tim and Ben have adjusted well to their new life, and are learning Swahili more rapidly than their parents.                          scottandmegrambo.blogspot.com

JOY PHILLIPS     SUDAN      Since April, Joy has been planning another cataract clinic in Sudan.  Last month, an entire medical team and 750 pounds of equipment were flown twelve hours from Tenwek Hospital in Kenya to Tonj. Eye care has never been offered in that area of Sudan before. In three and a half days, 137 cataract surgeries were performed!  These Sudanese children of God, who were almost blind, have received the miracle of sight!  To God be the glory!!          joy.phillips@earthlink.net

JOHN and DASIA ABRAMOVICH     POLAND     John and Dasia write that their summer Bible Camp ministries were well attended and successful this year. Now they are busy with children's Christian education in Bible studies and after school programs. They also continue to preach and teach in local churches.         jdabra@gmail.com

JIM and ALICE VANDERHOOF     KENYA     Jim and Alice are working with the Africa Gospel Church to promote cross cultural missions and training opportunities, to identify and reach the unreached. They continue to mentor young leaders in the AGC, and to work with all missionaries in Kenya.       director@wgmkenya.org

STEVE and GAIL QUIGG     MISSION SAFETY INTERNATIONAL     Steve and Gail have just returned from conducting an aviation seminar and audit at the Missionary Aviation Institute in Alberta, Canada; and are planning to return to Africa in November. Steve is on the board of the United Methodist Aviation Ministries, and has been busy with their business. Gail is working with "Change of Pace" , a weekly Bible study attended by hundreds of women.  They write, "This is an exciting time to be about our Father's business."         steve@flyingquiggs.org

JOHN and KENDRA ENRIGHT     ZAMBIA     81 pastors and their families were at Kafakumba this summer. Imagine their awe, as they were introduced to computers! (Some were sent from PUMC)  They are still unpacking the container which we helped send in 2010, and are thrilled with the supplies. Women and girls were busy sewing, using the materials they received; and babies and pastors made good us of the kits. School children were all given their kits as they returned to their village's.         enright@coppernet.zm
