Pastors Appointed to PUMC
Pastors in the United Methodist Church are appointed to one year only. Local churches depend on missions led by laity and are guided by the clergy pastors appointed to the church by the Conference.
During this year's conference, we were blessed by the re-appointment of our Senior pastor to our church, the Rev. Dr. Lawrence Potts. However, our Associate Pastor, the Rev. Peter Jamieson was appointed to serve the churches in Dennisville and South Dennis, and he will be leaving Pitman effective July 1. Peter and Lori Jo will be greatly missed.
But our church belongs to God, not to us! God has provided a new Associate Pastor for our congregation, the Rev. Kee Young Yang.
Pastor Peter's final Sunday in Pitman will be on June 19. However, we look forward to welcoming Pastor Kee, his wife Grace, and their two children on Sunday July 3.
During the conference, each District Superintendent presented each newly appointed pastor and their lay delegation with letters documenting the appointment. During the presentation to the Delaware Bay district churches, Pastor Kee was joined by Rev. Potts, Donna Jordan, and Larry Bakely (PUMC lay members) to accept the appointment letters from Rev. Richard Nichols (our District Superentendent).
