How Was This New Church Building Put Together???
After the December 1, 2003 fire which destroyed our historic building on the corner of Holy and Broadway, we began to plan for the future. We entered a transitional period of "tabernacling" (just as Moses and the Israelites did on their journey from Egypt to the Promised Land). We met in the Pitman Middle School until June of 2004. We then renovated a downtown store front and renamed it the "Worship and Education Center" (WE Center), to be our next temporary home. At first the WE Center had only a small chapel, so we held our larger services in the Broadway Theater. When the theater became unavailable, we renovated again and held everything in the WE Center.
During
that time we also planned for construction of our new building. We decided
to purchase land on the corner of Lambs Road and Broadway and to relocate our
church by building a new home.
But we have also been planning for the construction of a new Church (not just the building our Church meets in). We re-evaluated what our mission is, who we are, and how we can best meet our community's needs. This page shows how we built a new building, but you'll have to visit us in person to see how we're building a new Church!
Our Building Rises...
When construction began in March 2006, we began taking a series of
photos from several different locations and angles
around the construction site. Construction was completed in June of
2007 and we held our first worship service on Sunday July 1, 2007.

Highlights Along the
Way...
During the 15 months of construction, we we were blessed with several
"milestones" of encouragement.
Steeple Raising- For weeks we watched as the steeple was constructed on the ground and gradually took shape. On November 27, 2006 the steeple was raised and we held a service of blessing across the street as the cross was placed on top of the steeple. Slide show videos were made to document each event. Click the following links to see what happened: Steeple Cross
Stained Glass Windows- One
of the most memorable features of our old building were its stained glass
windows. The sanctuary featured a large window over the alter depicting
the resurrection, a set of three large windows on the side of the sanctuary, and
a smaller set of three windows in the chapel which was on the opposite side of
the sanctuary. Miraculously, all of these windows survived the fire, and
they have been installed in our new building.
We really began to feel at home once these windows emerged from storage to take
their new places in our new building.
The following pictures were taken during and shortly after the installation.
