BLAST – PITMAN UNITED METHODIST CHURCH YOUTH GROUPS
BLAST is a name chosen by the members of the Pitman UMC Youth group. It stands for Big, Loud, Awesome, Spiritual Time! It reflects what happens each Sunday evening when we meet. Most of the time is Big, Loud, and Awesome, however, if you don't have the Spiritual in there, too, it's just BLAT, and that's no fun!
BLAST regularly meets between 6:00 and 8:00 on Sunday evenings between mid-September and June. When we meet, we separate Jr and Sr highs for devotions, but we get the groups back together for activities and fun. We always end the night with a snack provided by one of our parents, too!
Any youth between sixth grade and twelfth are invited to come to all BLAST activities.
BLAST schedules special activities during the year. Our 2011-2012 schedule include movie nights; lock-ins; a “Gop & Goo” night; Turkey Football; Christmas Party; our now annual January trip to Ocean City for Mac and Manco's pizza; weekend trips to the Mid-Winter Advance at Keswick, one for Junior High and a separate weekend for Senior High; and some mission/service projects including 30 Hour Famine.
